It’s the end of an era for one of Salem’s youngest stars. Cary Christopher, who’s played Thomas DiMera on Days of Our Lives for nearly six years, has officially left the long-running soap.
Cary first stepped into the role of Thomas back in 2020, and since then, he’s become a familiar face in the DiMera family. Over the years, viewers have watched his character grow up, deal with the loss of his mom, and get tangled up in plenty of classic Salem drama. He’s been part of some big storylines for someone his age, and honestly, it’s hard to imagine the DiMera mansion without him running around.
The young actor confirmed his exit on October 17, 2025, sharing that he actually wrapped filming a while ago. His decision wasn’t because of any behind-the-scenes drama — he’s simply moving on to new opportunities. Cary has joined the cast of an upcoming Amazon Prime series and also has a movie on the way. Not bad for a teen soap star!
In his goodbye message, Cary thanked the Days cast and crew, calling them “a second family,” and gave a sweet shout-out to his on-screen dad, Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera), for being “the best TV dad ever.” You could tell from the way he talked about it that this was a tough but exciting decision for him.
As for what happens to Thomas now — that’s the big question. Days of Our Lives has a habit of either sending characters off quietly or “aging them up” down the road, so fans are already guessing whether Thomas will be back someday, maybe as a teen or adult. Either way, this isn’t the last we’ve heard of the DiMera heir.
Cary’s exit is definitely bittersweet. While viewers are sad to see him go, it’s also really cool to see him take this next big step in his career. From daytime TV to streaming and film — that’s a pretty impressive leap.
For now, all we can say is: good luck, Cary. Salem won’t be the same without you.
