Tristan Rogers, the revered Australian actor most famous for bringing the character Robert Scorpio to life on the long‑running ABC soap General Hospital, passed away on August 15, 2025, following a battle with lung cancer. He was 79. The news was first reported by ABC7 Eyewitness News.
Born in Melbourne in 1946, Rogers began his acting career in Australian television—appearing in soaps like Bellbird, Number 96, The Box, and dramas like The Link Men—before transitioning to international success.
His big break came in 1980, when he joined General Hospital as Robert Scorpio. Originally intended as a brief role, his portrayal quickly resonated with audiences. He became one of daytime television’s most beloved figures, appearing across more than 1,400 episodes and pivotal storylines, including the legendary 1981 Luke and Laura wedding—still the highest‑rated hour in American soap history.
In July 2025, Rogers publicly shared that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer, expressing gratitude for fans' ongoing support while requesting privacy for himself and his family during the treatment process.
Tristan Rogers is survived by his wife, Teresa Parkerson (married since 1995), and their two children, Sara and Cale.
