Are you Ready For It? The Purge TV Concept has finally been Revealed

The Purge franchise announced earlier in April 2017 that it would be taking the opportunity to bring the show to the prime time screens. Writer and director of the horror/thriller James Monaco was invited and allowed to be a major creative influence in this Blumhouse and Universal Cable production.

From the inception of The Purge Franchise in 2013, all ardent movie followers would be aware of this annual event where citizens of the United States are able to do just about anything! Sanctioned under the 28th Amendment, nightfall brings 12 hours of murder and mayhem and an opportunity to annihilate anyone you choose.

So if the movie was not enough for you, will you find your appetites appeased with the introduction of The Purge TV series? Film and television production giant, Blumhouse Productions, has taken on the unenviable task of showing how the purge actually affects the society throughout the rest of the year. After all, to think there is that legally sanctioned 12 hours of murder coming up must play hell on the psyche.

James DeMonaco, writer, director and all round creative mind for The Purge, explained that the general idea behind season 1 came from him. When approached by Blumhouse Television with the idea of a TV series, DeMonaco was in the midst of writing a 4th installment to The Purge franchise. However, he appreciated that the concept of the TV show was one that would add far more depth to the characters. As against the movies where kill or be killed was often the decision, the TV show would afford the opportunity to gain insight into the main characters - on all sides of the fence. It was therefore not difficult for James DeMonaco to give this new venture his full support. From this it might be safe to say, the TV series might be a bit more palatable in comparison to the massacre that accompanies Purge Night.

While no release date has yet been given, USA and Syfy are the major networks expected to air the series.
