Peter Bergman’s New Role In New Series Is the Last Thing Soap Fans Saw Coming

 

Peter Bergman is trading in his suits and Abbott family drama for something a little darker — and a lot more mysterious.

Best known to soap fans as Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless, Bergman is stepping into a brand-new role in the upcoming Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller Pluribus, created by none other than Breaking Bad mastermind Vince Gilligan.

Set in Albuquerque, Pluribus tells the story of an author who appears to be the only person immune to a strange new virus — one that infects people with a relentless sense of happiness and contentment. Sounds harmless? Not quite. When everyone is unnaturally blissful, something much darker is probably lurking underneath.

The series stars Rhea Seehorn (from Better Call Saul) in the lead role as Carol Sturka, and features a cast of complex characters — including a White House figure played by Bergman, who appears in a newly released teaser trailer. In the clip, Bergman's character speaks to Carol in a calm, almost soothing voice — but there’s an ominous undertone that hints he may not be as friendly as he seems.

For longtime fans of Peter Bergman, this is a major shift; it’s been a while since we've seen him in a primetime scripted series. Pluribus marks an exciting return to that world.

Joining Bergman and Seehorn in the cast are Karolina Wydra, Carlos Manuel Vesga, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. The series will kick off with two episodes on November 7, followed by weekly drops every Friday through December 26.

Soap fans are buzzing — and not just over the usual Salem chaos. Lately, a new question has been taking center stage: Is Holly Jonas, played by Ashley Puzemis, about to leave Days of Our Lives?

When Did Ashley Puzemis Join DOOL?

Ashley Puzemis joined the cast as a SORAS’d (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) version of Holly Jonas in October 2023. It was part of a teen scene refresh that also introduced Jamie Martin Mann as Tate Black. Holly had been on the show since 2016, but this recast gave her a more central role in Salem’s younger generation.

Fast forward a year, and things have gotten dramatic.

The last few weeks have seen Holly spiraling hard. Her relationship with Tate fell apart after he betrayed her trust — remember when he went to Julie with the truth about that whole Doug III necklace mess? Yeah, not great.

On top of that, Holly’s been making questionable choices: drinking, skipping responsibilities, and there was even a fire in her dorm room. Yikes.

But here’s the kicker — in episodes airing the week of October 6–10, 2025, Holly is seen making plans to leave Salem, possibly for good. There are hints that she might go to France to live with her mom, Nicole. That certainly sounds like a classic soap exit strategy.

Wait... Is She Actually Leaving?

Here’s where things get interesting. Despite all the clues pointing to Holly's departure, there’s also reason to believe she’s not going anywhere — at least not permanently.

1. She’s in the 60th Anniversary Promo

Ashley Puzemis confirmed that she participated in a special 60th anniversary photo shoot for the show, which airs November 8, 2025. That’s pretty soon. If she were written off entirely, would they have included her in that? Unlikely.

So… Is She Leaving or Not?

Here’s the speculative part (because hey, what’s a soap without a little guessing?): Holly might be leaving Salem temporarily — maybe to cool off, go to rehab, or just reset her life a bit. But the odds of a permanent exit? Pretty low, in our opinion.
