CBS "Survivor" Legend & 2x Cancer Survivor Returns to Compete. Learn more here--->>
Former "Survivor" winner and ultimate fan-favorite ETHAN ZOHN returns next week to star on "Survivor: Winners at War" (premiering Wednesday, February 12 @ 8pm on CBS).
Since his first "Survivor" win, Ethan has battled and beat cancer TWICE, and became a world renowned motivational speaker, author, and humanitarian. This former soccer pro is now back on the hit CBS reality show for the 20th Anniversary edition of the groundbreaking competition series. This new season of "Survivor: Winners at War" unites the most memorable, heroic, and celebrated champions from the past two decades in the biggest battle in the show's history, as the series' best strategists of all time fight to earn the title of Sole Survivor again with an increased prize of $2 million - the largest jackpot in reality show history.
In 2001, Ethan won $1,000,000 on CBS's third season of "Survivor: Africa." Winning was the springboard to his entrepreneurship, social purpose and advocacy. Making true to a promise he made at the Final Tribal Council, Ethan used his winnings to found "Grassroot Soccer," an adolescent health organization that leverages the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize at-risk youth in developing countries to overcome their greatest health challenges, live healthier, more productive lives, and be agents for change in their communities.
In the years after his win, Ethan's story went from SURVIVOR WINNER to CANCER SURVIVOR. In 2009, he was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called CD20+ Hodgkin's lymphoma. After undergoing several stem cell treatments and chemotherapy, he went into remission, only for his cancer to return. For a second time, Ethan battled the cancer and won, thanks to another stem-cell transplant and an experimental drug - he's been living cancer-free since 2012. Throughout his battle with cancer, Ethan served as a National Ambassador for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), and has since harnessed his industry connections in television to create SURVIVOR SU2C, through which donations are made to cancer research through "Survivor".
Despite his hardships, Ethan could be seen regularly competing on national TV including on Fear Factor, PitchMen, and The Amazing Race. He has released a three-part children's educational book series. Soccer World: South Africa was the #1 children's book on Amazon.com. Ethan is a highly sought after speaker, addressing high schools, colleges, corporate, and professional audiences, including United Synagogue Youth, Goldman Sachs, Young Professionals Organization, NCAA, WE Day, Atlantic Health Systems, Seattle Genetics, Genentech, Lynne Schusterman Foundation/ROI, Tribefest, and dozens more.
He married interior designer Lisa Heywood and they both now live in New Hampshire. Continuing to make the most out of his life, on his down time, Ethan likes to spend time with his two cats, travel, run, cycle play and watch SOCCER.
